  • A variable is an item of data stored in the computer’s memory. Each variable has a name as an identifier, and a data type (String, Real number, Integer, Boolean)
  • A subprogram is a block of code within a program with a label. Sub programs can be used more than once.
  • A function is a subprogram that returns a value. This means when you call the function, it sends back data directly to the program, e.g. the RND, ROUND or MOD functions.
  • Modular programs consist of a collection of subprograms used in the order described in the main program’s sequence. Each subprogram could be tested independently.
